Marian Cowl by Jane Richmond

Well, here we are!  Day 3 of the new Layout.

What do you think so far?

Meanwhile, here's the Marian Cowl by Jane Richmond.

I found this pattern free on the old Ravelry site.

Well Thank God I remembered I had that random skein of Twinkle Soft & Chunky...

I've had that skein for awhile now and I finally found something to make with it!

I love my Seed Stitch ("Moss Stitch" to some...)

I love its texture and geometric/graphic pattern.

Love, love, love!

(flash)                                  (no flash)

This pattern worked so fast and easy!

It did say to work until 8.5" long but I worked it until the skein was done!

(It ended up measuring 12ish inches).

Why would I want a little teeny random bit of yarn left?

This one I'm keeping for me!

"But behind the Chalet
My holiday's complete
And I feel like William Tell
Maid Marion on her tiptoed feet
Pulling mussels from the shell

Lion Dobbs Ferry Cowl

 Do we look alike?

Kidding!!!

That's a bit better, right?

This whipped up so quickly and easily that I finished this cowl in about 2.5 hours!

I will say tho, this one is quite stiff!

So, this cowl pattern's from the Lion site and it calls for THREE strands of the Wool-Ease Thick & Quick.

That's alotta yarn there...

Lion Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in "Spice"

ooh!  Spicy!

(without flash):

It is just incredibly stiff...

It will stand up by itself!

I like this and I'd like to make one for myself (since this is a Christmas gift) but I'm thinking I'd like to try it again with only TWO strands held together.

See what happens...

UPDATE: We had the wonderful Guinness over today (we dog-sat) and tonight we all went for a walk at about 7:30p in the freezing cold (well, for California, anyway...)

I wore this cowl as a test to see how it wore and how warm it really would be.

I will say, it was really really warm!

Maybe I will make another one with THREE strands...?

:)

ttwcreative - My Kind of Cowl

Ta Da!

Up next in the Cowl-a-Thon:

(without flash):

I can't even begin to tell you how easy this was and how fast it worked.

Again, I used the Lion Wool-Ease Thick & Quick
(in Taupe, of course... I'm finally getting thru that big bag I had!).

That, plus Size 17 needles makes for a quick project.

And I think I was able to bust this one out with less than a whole skein!

It's really cute on and it can be worn so many different ways!

(as she shows us here)

As you know, I'm not a fan of the Cowl but I liked this one instantly!

I think this one will go to sis-in-law.

But I'd like one for myself, as well...

Bernat -Alpaca Hooded Cowl (Crochet)

Yes, I am still working on the Bernat crochet Cowl.

I started this project, oh let's see...

In mid-October!!!

It moves fast and it's definitely an easy pattern.

I think the thing I'm realizing is that I'm just not that into crochet.

In the time that I've started this, I've finished the Twinkle Nolita cowl, the My Kind of Cowl cowl and various dishtowels!

I need to finish this one soon, though.

Not only for a sense of completion but also 'cause it's a Christmas gift!!!

I think one more skein will do and then I'll be done.

Do I look like her?

To Cowl or Not to Cowl...

Well... Cowls seem to be HUGE for fall...

and as you know, I am not a fan of the Cowl.

I dunno... there's just something about it that I'm just not into.

It's like a turtleneck but with the body missing. A turtleneck without the turtle?

A tube for your neck?

It's just odd to me.
BUT!!!

Christmas is coming fast and I need easy projects to hand out, since we are DIY'ing Christmas this year!

So the cowl, it is...

Whether they like it or not, they're gettin' one!

I've decided to start with this Bernat Cowl.

So far, it's working fast.

It's a simple crochet pattern and I'm hoping to have it done soon.

So, my big beef, so far is...

I'm using this Bernat Alpaca in Stone and it's so soft and beautiful, but...

It sheds!!!

I leave little furries everywhere!

When I started working on this, I was wearing a white top. Let's just say, it's not so white anymore.

Anyway, I dunno how that will be for the person who's gift this will be. Hopefully they'll wear a lot of black. ;-)

This one's pretty:
But again, odd...

A hood-tube-thing?

She looks like she should be in Star Wars... or a Bond movie...
