Yarn: Cascade Heritage (in Black) and Dragonfly Fibers Pixie (in Black Pearl)

Needles: US size 4

YAY!  And this is done!

This one is for my niece for her birthday as she requested a 'black scarf' and 

I thought this would be a nice present!

I have to tell you... I LOVE Stephen West's patterns.  I find them sooooooo visually interesting!

I like that they are graphic and geometric!

This pattern was a lot of fun and once you get the basic idea of the pattern down, you can pretty much be on auto-pilot and work this one fast!

 The pattern calls for 86 of these little ladders and I put stitch markers every 20 ladders 

so I could remember and count easily!

It's always important to me to have clean insides (wrong sides) as well as right sides!  

I love a clean wrong side!  :)

The short row wrap & turns create this nice circular shaping!

(when doing your wrap & turns, don't forget to pick up the wraps and 

knit 'em with the rest of the stitches!!!)

This was such a fun project and I'd love to make another one with my left over stash!

I love to see all the different variations on Ravelry, especially the rainbow-ish ones!

Free Pattern Friday! - Whit's Knits: Beautiful Spring Scarf

I have been totally obsessed with Pink and Grey (and Pink and Black, too!) as a color combo!

So when I saw this post on the ol' PurlBee blog,

I knew this would be my next Free Pattern Friday!

 

This is the Beautiful Spring Scarf by Whitney.

 

It seems easy enough and I love how a quick pop of color can really bring life to a simple accessory!

Spud & Chloe Braided Scarf

Here it is! 

The Spud & Chloe Braided scarf.

 

It is sooooooooo cute!

This went to my good friend Sho for Christmas and it comes in handy since she is going to cold Colorado at the end of this month!

And, of course, I used the Lion Thick & Quick Wool-Ease in my current favorite color - Taupe.

This was the last of the HUGE bag of Lion T&Q in Taupe that I had!

YAY!

All those skeins (I think I had like 12 of them) made 4 cowls and 1 Braided scarf!

Anyway, this pattern is soooooooo easy and it works very fast!

I had never done an I-Cord before and their video tutorial was incredibly helpful!

You can make this as long or short as you'd like.

I followed their example and made 6 braids.

I'd like to make this again (ahem - for me, of course) and add more braids.

If you're gonna go, why not go long!  :)

Cable-Knit Scarf from A Killer Stitch novel (by Maggie Sefton)

Our book club met last night to discuss our latest read -

A Killer Stitch by Maggie Sefton.

 The book was cute.  A light mystery.  An easy read.

I was most excited to see it came with a free pattern!

Free + Pattern = Alright with me!

This is a super easy cable pattern.

And it works fast!

You just keep working the pattern until the scarf is as long as you'd like it to be!

I do have a cable needle around somewhere but since I have no idea where, I just use a pencil... :)

I only made a sample of what the pattern would be, since I am the knitter in the group and I thought they'd like to see what the pattern would look like!

I thought about continuing it 'cause this would be a cute Christmas gift for someone (anyone) and I'm on a strict budget (ahem, 'restriction') this year for spending...

Twinkle Tribeca Scarf

Yay!!!

The next Twinkle-Vogue pattern is up!!!

Last month, Vogue Knitting introduced the Nolita pattern as the first of six new Twinkle designs, exclusive to Vogue Knitting!

Vogue is releasing them, once a month.

This month, it's the Tribeca Scarf.

(I'm sensing these are going to be named after areas in Manhattan?) :)

This pattern also calls for Twinkle's Soft Chunky and the big ol' 17 & 19 needles.

This is cute and I'd like to try and make this.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the big cable around the neck,
I just dunno how I feel about the attached wrist-warmers.

Would they restrict hand/arm movement?

For someone who talks with her hands (I've knocked over plenty a glass of wine during many conversations), it might not be good!

Guest Blogger Sidse - Off White Scarf with Flowers

Another beautiful project from Sidse with her Off-White Scarf with Flowers!

I crocheted this scarf for my friend Christina's 34th birthday, while visiting a friend in London. It took around 4 nights, and the quality is really really nice.

I attached some extra flowers on the ends, because I thought it looked funny with a lot of flowers on one side, and no flowers on the others. Next project is to crochet 2 scarves, and then stitch them together down the middle, so it will have flowers on both sides!!!

Relay for Life Scarf - Complete!!!

Yay!!! It's done!

Congrats to Kristin at Hubby's work for winning the Relay for Life scarf!

This was so much fun to make.

I now want to put retro video game images on EVERYTHING! ;-)

I washed it, then set it out to dry on a towel.

Then I weaved in any loose ends!

I also wish I'd made him a bit bigger (or longer).

Even tho, he's the same size as all the other lil guys.

Relay For Life Scarf

Relay For Life 24-hour walk (Newport Harbor High)

Hubby's office participated in the Relay for Life walk for the American Cancer Society this weekend!

It was a 24 hour walk around the track at Newport Harbor High School and his office (along with other companies & organizations) scheduled blocks of time to walk around the track.

The Newport Fire Dept. walked the track the entire time in their full fire gear!

Thank God for Firemen! ;-)

Hubby wanted to schedule his walk from 3-5:00 a.m. and I said "have fun!" :)

He ended up putting us in for 9p - Midnight cause he wanted to see the luminaria ceremony.

Hubby's office raised quite a bit of money and the company matched it! Yay!

To raise money, the office had a raffle and hubby volunteered a scarf, made by me!

This was supposed to be done about 2 weeks ago but since school has been my #1 priority these days, I just started the scarf this past weekend!

I was a bit nervous & hesitant to start this cause this pattern is truly 'from scratch'.

I've always wanted to make my own patterns and so here's my chance!

Hubby drew out the designs of how he wanted the scarf to look...

Then I drew them out on grid paper and cleaned up the edges.


Then I just started knitting.

For every row I knit, I write it down (tho I now wish I'd been typing this whole time, as opposed to hand writing).

After the Pac Man, I'll do 3 more designs.

Not sure how long this scarf will end up being,
but hopefully long enough to get twice around the neck!

The luminaria thing was beautiful, but sad.

For every candle (bag) lit, represents someone who is either struggling with Cancer, or has lost their battle to it.
